The interior design of the apartment in Hloubětín focuses on the entrance zone and the dressing room, where it uses minimalist elements of an almost gallery-like character in order to hide all storage spaces and at the same time provide a neutral background to the lives of the apartment's inhabitants. 

The apartment is located in one of the new residential buildings in Prague 9. Well-lit day-zone layout with living room and kitchen is oriented to the south and east, the private zone of the apartment, which includes bedroom, bathroom and guest room has northern and eastern orientation. The heart of the layout is the entrance hall, which is a crossroad of all inhabitants’ movements and the main object of our design.

Since the project has been concerned with the already furnished interior, the designed elements had to connect and unify the character of the apartment, as well as separate its various spaces.

At the same time, clients needed a considerable amount of storage space, which included wardrobes, a shoe cabinet, a wine cabinet, a place for storing household and cleaning supplies and sports equipment. All of it was achieved through working with furniture geometry, lighting, surfaces and materials.

The main element of the hall is the furniture piece, the top view of which is forming the letter L, and the opposite large mirror divided in two with a vertical light source. The upper part of the letter L consists of shallow storage spaces, an upper storage, accessible from the entrance zone, a shelf cabinet and a shoe cabinet located in a niche. The lower part of the letter L consists of a wardrobe, upper storage and a wine cabinet. All cabinets are made of carefully selected materials, which naturally follow the existing color palette of the apartment. Two tall mirrors separated by a light element visually enlarge the entrance hall and give it a monumentalizing symmetrical character. The lighting of the hall is represented by three verticals of LED strips, which emphasize the accents of this part of the interior: they underline its symmetry, separate the entrance and provide uniform ambient light.

Large mirrors and distinctive linear light elements also appear in the dressing room. Here, the LED strips are oriented horizontally, in a U-shape viewed from the top, and located between the open niches with the clothes rail and the upper storages, as well as between the mirrors. The mirrors are located opposite of the entrance to the dressing, visually enlarging the space and underlining its simple geometry. The gray neutral surfaces are in contrast with the distinctive texture of the OSB boards, which form the surfaces of the niches. The raw and distinctive character of the texture of OSB boards is the main motif of the chamber, where clients store sports equipment. It is conceived pragmatically: the system of simple hooks and shelves is tailored to the specific elements of the sports inventory and uses the most of the limited space. The project focuses on the work with elements that are an essential part of every apartment, but which often remain outside the scope of ​​interest of architects or designers. The interior of the apartment is an example of how attentive approach to such elements can enrich a household with practical and colorful spaces.
